Practice Update 5/5

Tonight is the first practice! Practice groups were sent out last night for everyone who is signed up. Please check your registration if you didn't receive the email.

The weather tonight looks to be colder than normal for this time of year with potential rain. The weather policy that we follow for practices is the standard weather policy set by Red Cross. If we hear thunder or see lightning, we will be out of the water for 30 minutes and that 30 minutes will reset each new time there is thunder/lightning. Athletes and families will need to go to their cars during a lightning delay. Practice will continue through rain unless it rains hard enough that we can't see the bottom of the pool.

The coaches will be watching for our athletes getting too cold. This is especially a concern for our little ones, with focus on the yellow sharks group. Please have your athlete show up with a jacket today and have a dry towel ready for them. All groups will start on deck with some team talks and stretches/games. The yellow sharks will probably only be in the water for about 20 minutes today and we want them to stay warm before getting into the water. Any athlete showing signs of hypothermia (purple lips/pale complexion, continuous shivering, etc.) will be sent to their parents to warm up and head home for the day.
